Following the October Revolution of 1917, the family of deposed Tsar Nicholas II (the last Emporer of Russia) were sent to internal exile in Yekaterinburg where they were imprisoned in the Ipatiev House in the city.
In the early hours of the morning of 17 July 1918, the deposed Tsar, his wife Alexandra, and their children Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Tsarevich Alexei were executed by the Bolsheviks at the Ipatiev House. Other members of the Romanov family were killed at Alapayevsk later the same day. On July 16, 1918, the Czechoslovak legions were closing on Yekaterinburg. The Bolsheviks executed the deposed imperial family, believing that the Czechoslovaks were on a mission to rescue them. The Legions arrived less than a week later and captured the city.
In 1981, Nicholas, his wife and their children were canonised as martyrs by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, located in New York City. On 15 August 2000 Nicholas and his family were canonised as passion bearers, a title commemorating believers who face death in a Christ-like manner, by the Russian Orthodox Church within Russia.
Announcing to our travel group, our first trip to Russia in July 2018, the Romanov 100 Year Tour. This Tour is going to focus on all the Good & Positive aspects of Today’s Russia whilst accepting its history as we understand it to be, here in Australia & my personal family’s experiences of 3 generations in this history.
The Romanov Family, 100 Year Tour (14th to 30th July) will start with attending the Church Of Blood Yekaterinburg Russian Orthodox service on the 100th Anniversary of the death of the Romanov Family (17th July 2018).
